Edmond is a rapidly growing suburban city located in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma in the central part of the state. It is one of the fastest growing cities within the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area. As of July 1, 2003, the city had 71,643 residents. Edmond is 15 minutes from Oklahoma City, 3 hours from Dallas, Texas, 2 hours from Wichita, Kansas, 20-25 minutes from Oklahoma's Will Rogers World Airport, and Interstate 35 (I-35) borders the east side of Edmond. Edmond is an affluent city attracting progressive knowledge-based companies who find a workforce that is well-educated. Retail trade has doubled since 1990, commercial building permits continue at a record pace, and national retailers are building Edmond locations at an unparalleled rate.
Only 15 minutes from Oklahoma City, Edmond attracts the majority of executives in the Oklahoma City area who want to live in a top school district with a family oriented community. Edmond is much sought after for the quality education provided by its excellent school system. There are also two universities and several private schools in Edmond.
